AT A GLANCE
For Thermage, discuss expected sensations and how the clinician will communicate with you during treatment. A comfort feature in a device description does not replace an individual discussion about tolerance, concerns and proposed support.
Make communication part of the plan
Agree how you will tell the team that a sensation is uncomfortable or that you need an explanation. Mention previous reactions to pain-control medicines or numbing products. Ask which comfort measures the clinic actually offers, whether they are included in the quote and what restrictions they involve. The appropriate plan should be explained before the appointment begins, not inferred from a package name.
Questions to bring to your consultation
Use these questions to turn your interests into a specific discussion with your doctor. Keep the proposed treatment, the reason for it and the follow-up arrangements together in your notes.
- How will the team check my comfort as treatment proceeds?
- What options are available if I find the sensation difficult?
- Are any proposed medicines or products unsuitable with my history?
Your questions
Should I copy a pain-control routine from the internet?
No. Tell your clinician what you already take and let them give instructions for this appointment. An online routine does not account for your medical history or the planned procedure.
