AT A GLANCE
A Thermage consultation should establish the goal, the area and whether the device is appropriate for you. Tell the doctor about medical conditions, implants and previous procedures before discussing the proposed scope.
Bring the facts that change the decision
If you have an implanted electronic medical device, make that clear at the start and have the clinician check the manufacturer’s restrictions. Describe what you hope to change and what outcome you would consider insufficient. Ask how the doctor distinguishes a skin-firmness concern from a concern about volume or contour. A broad anti-aging label is not enough to decide suitability.
Questions to bring to your consultation
Use these questions to turn your interests into a specific discussion with your doctor. Keep the proposed treatment, the reason for it and the follow-up arrangements together in your notes.
- Does my medical or device history affect suitability?
- What change is realistic for the proposed area?
- What findings would make you recommend another approach or defer treatment?
Your questions
Is Thermage appropriate for everyone who wants firmer skin?
No. The clinician must assess the concern and check relevant device restrictions, medical history and expectations before recommending a plan.
