AT A GLANCE
A pore consultation should consider your skin, routine and associated concerns such as oiliness or acne. The American Academy of Dermatology discusses making pores less noticeable; that is different from promising to remove pores.
Explain what makes the concern noticeable
Tell the doctor which areas concern you and whether the appearance varies with products, makeup or breakouts. Bring your current skin-care list instead of starting several new products just before the visit. Ask what the clinician identifies and how a proposed approach would be assessed over time. Photographs taken under consistent conditions can support a comparison, but filters and magnification can make expectations difficult to judge.
Questions to bring to your consultation
Use these questions to turn your interests into a specific discussion with your doctor. Keep the proposed treatment, the reason for it and the follow-up arrangements together in your notes.
- Is there an associated skin condition to address first?
- What degree of change is realistic for my skin?
- How should we assess progress under comparable lighting?
Your questions
Can a treatment make pores disappear permanently?
This guide does not promise pore removal. Ask about realistic changes in their appearance, the limits of treatment and the role of ongoing skin care.
