AT A GLANCE
Tell the clinic what sensitive means for you: stinging, itching, flushing, dryness or a previous reaction. The timing, products and symptoms give the clinician more useful information than the label alone.
List reactions without guessing the ingredient
Bring product names or ingredient lists and describe what happened after using them. Include prescribed skin medicines, previous diagnoses and reactions during cosmetic procedures. Avoid assuming that natural, gentle or hypoallergenic wording proves that a product is appropriate for you. Ask whether the current skin concern should be assessed before discussing an elective treatment and what preparation the clinician recommends.
Questions to bring to your consultation
Use these questions to turn your interests into a specific discussion with your doctor. Keep the proposed treatment, the reason for it and the follow-up arrangements together in your notes.
- Which symptoms and triggers should I document?
- Does my skin need assessment before any cosmetic procedure?
- What should I keep using or change only after clinical advice?
Your questions
Does sensitive skin rule out every procedure?
The label alone does not answer that question. A clinician needs to understand your symptoms, history and current skin before discussing suitability and precautions.
